Microdosing Mushrooms
Why microdose?
People from all over the world from different backgrounds microdose psilocybin to increase their productivity, creativity, and focus. Computer programmers in Silicon Valley were among the first to share the benefits they experienced in their work from microdosing psilocybin. Since then, the word about microdosing psilocybin has gotten out and many people use it as a social method, a substance to treat medical conditions, and a way to improve cognitive function.
Taking a small dose of psilocybin has the potential to treat medical conditions like:
- Depression,
- Anxiety
- PTSD
- Bipolar disorder
- ADHD
- Addiction
- Chronic pain
- Brain injuries
Furthermore, psilocybin is a substance that doesn’t have to be consumed on a daily basis for ideal health benefits. In fact, daily consumption of psilocybin loses its appeal rather quickly and simply isn’t necessary.
Microdosing protocols
Microdosing involves taking very small amounts of psilocybin. These doses are so low that users are unlikely to experience any psychedelic effects. The goal of microdosing psilocybin is to experience the potential benefits of the medicine while minimizing the intensity of the psychedelic experience. We want to enjoy the positive aspects like mood stabilization and increased neuroplasticity without having to take a big does of psilocybin that can take you into a journey.
A microdose is defined as 1/10 of a recreational dose of psilocybin. This is typically 0.1-0.3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. The ideal amount will vary slightly from person to person based on prior experience using psilocybin and each individual’s unique body chemistry.
The Fadiman Protocol:
Taking a microdose every third day for a month.
The Stamets Protocol:
4 days on with 3 days off per week.
Keeping a journal
One of the best ways to get the most out of your psilocybin microdosing experience is to keep a journal. This will help you track your progress and learn more about what works for you and what doesn’t.
There are a few things you should include in your journal:
- The date, including the day of the week
- The time of day you took the dose
- Weight of microdose
- How you were feeling before taking the dose (mood, energy level, etc.)
- What were your intentions for taking the dose? (increased creativity, improved focus, reduced anxiety)
- What effects did you experience during the day? (positive and negative)
- How are you feeling at the end of the day
- Note any changes you noticed in your behavior or thinking patterns
If you keep a regular journal, you’ll be able to look back and see how microdosing psilocybin has affected you over time. This can be invaluable information as you continue to explore this powerful substance.
